A large multiagency police response is underway after reports of an active shooter at Temple Israel; investigators say temple security exchanged gunfire with the suspect and a one-mile shelter-in-place is in effect.

- Temple security engaged the suspect and exchanged gunfire, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said.
- Bouchard said no civilian injuries have been confirmed so far and the shooter may be injured.
- Authorities issued a one-mile shelter-in-place and asked the public to avoid the area.
- FBI Detroit and ATF agents joined local and state law enforcement on scene as investigators search for additional suspects.
- Jewish organizations were told to go into lockout and nearby schools were placed in secure mode.
