Amazon is replacing its ad-free add-on with Prime Video Ultra in the US on April 10 for $5 a month, boosting video quality, downloads and streams while still allowing ads on some live and add-on content.
- Prime Video Ultra replaces the current ad-free option in the US starting April 10 and costs $5 per month.
- Existing customers who already paid an extra $3 a month to remove ads will be moved to Ultra and will pay $2 more in April while gaining new features.
- Ultra adds 4K UHD, raises downloads to 100 from 25, and increases simultaneous streams to five from three.
- The default ad-supported Prime Video tier will offer 50 downloads and four concurrent streams.
- Ultra subscribers may still see ads on live TV, events, and some ad-supported content and add-on subscriptions.
- Standalone Prime Video costs $9 a month and Prime membership with video is $15 a month or $139 a year, and an annual Ultra plan is available for $46.
