B.C. adopts permanent daylight saving time after final spring forward

Mar 2nd 2026

British Columbia will move clocks forward this Sunday and then stop changing them, remaining on year round daylight saving time set to UTC minus 7 and called Pacific Time.

  • Clocks will spring forward one last time this Sunday and will not move back in November.
  • B.C. will stay on year round daylight time set to UTC minus 7 and called Pacific Time.
  • The province will match the Yukon year round and align with Alberta from November to March.
  • In winter B.C. will be one hour ahead of Washington, Oregon and California, and two to three hours behind Eastern Time depending on the season.
  • Government says the change aims to reduce sleep disruption and safety risks, and a previous law enabling the shift was passed but not enacted until now.
