California Attorney General Rob Bonta warned he will thoroughly review Paramount Skydance’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery and cautioned the companies not to assume regulatory approval.

Paramount Skydance moved into position to buy Warner Bros. Discovery after raising its bid and the WBD board accepted the offer.
Netflix had matching rights to a prior WBD sale agreement but withdrew, calling the higher price no longer financially attractive.
A coalition of 11 Republican state attorneys general asked the Department of Justice to scrutinize the Netflix-WBD transaction over competition concerns.
Those state AGs warned the merger could lead to higher prices, less competition and reduced innovation, and could hurt movie theaters.
