Canary Islands face 30-year setback if EU strips RUP status, warns regional president

On 30 March 2026 Fernando Clavijo asked regional actors to unite and press Madrid and the European Commission to maintain the Canary Islands' status as an outermost region in the EU 2028–2034 budget.
