EU and Nordic leaders visit Kyiv on fourth anniversary of Russia's invasion

On 24 February a delegation led by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa traveled to Kyiv to reaffirm political, financial and military support for Ukraine, Ukrainian and EU officials said.
- A delegation including von der Leyen, Costa and leaders from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Croatia arrived in Kyiv on the morning of February 24, according to posts cited by Europeiska Pravda.
- Von der Leyen said the visit was meant to reaffirm that Europe stands with Ukraine financially, militarily and through this winter and that Europe will not relent until peace is restored.
- Costa said his goal for the trip was to ensure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
- Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met the leaders at Kyiv's central railway station and thanked the Nordic-Baltic Eight and Croatia for their support.
- The visit was von der Leyen's tenth trip to Kyiv since the start of the war.
- The trip followed other diplomatic gestures around the anniversary, including the Polish Sejm Speaker's arrival on February 23 and Council of Europe events in solidarity with Ukraine.
