EU imported €3.47 trillion in services from non-EU countries in 2024

Eurostat data show the EU imported €3,471 billion in services from non-EU countries in 2024, with nearly 59% delivered via commercial presence and about 31% via cross-border supply.
- Total imports of services from non-EU countries amounted to €3,471 billion in 2024.
- Commercial presence accounted for 58.9% of imports, or €2,044 billion.
- Cross-border supply made up 31.3% of imports, or €1,087 billion.
- Consumption abroad represented 6.6% (€229 billion) and the presence of natural persons 3.2% (€111 billion).
- Mode 3 was the majority channel in 22 EU countries, with the highest shares in Bulgaria (81.7%), Hungary (78.1%) and Spain (74.5%).
- Mode 1 dominated in Greece (68.8%) and had high shares in Cyprus (43.8%), Sweden (37.7%) and Denmark (37.4%).
- Consumption abroad was particularly large in Denmark (22.3%) and notable in France (12.1%), Lithuania (10.8%), Croatia (10.4%) and Italy (10.3%).
- The presence of natural persons was highest in Cyprus and Denmark (7.3% each) and reached 5.4% in Belgium.
