Facebook outage blocks accounts worldwide for about two hours

A global Facebook outage starting about 4:15 PM ET blocked logins and showed an "account unavailable" notice; access was restored by 6:21 PM ET and Meta has not explained the issue.
- Outage began around 4:15 PM ET and prevented users from accessing Facebook accounts worldwide.
- Users saw the message: "Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes."
- DownDetector logged widespread reports while Meta's status page only noted disruptions to Facebook ad manager, Instagram Boost and the WhatsApp Business API.
- Facebook restored account access by 6:21 PM ET.
- Facebook has not provided a cause for the outage despite being contacted by BleepingComputer.
