Five in France charged with financing Hamas through charity network

Feb 24th 2026

French anti-terror prosecutors say two charities were used to transfer funds to Hamas; about €40 million and two properties were seized and investigations continue under anti-terror judges.

  • PNAT charged five people on February 20 with financing Hamas under the cover of humanitarian aid.
  • Investigations opened on November 3, 2023 target the associations Humani'Terre and Comité de Bienfaisance, later known as Soutien Humani'Terre.
  • Searches on January 31 and February 16 recovered computers, accounting records and nearly €40 million, including over €5 million in cash across multiple offices.
  • The probe involves Paris anti-terror police, the DGSI, the OCRGDF and international cooperation with Italy, the United States and Israel.
  • Three anti-terror investigating judges are now handling the case and the five suspects remain under judicial supervision.
