France unveils FLP-T 150 long-range rocket launcher to reduce dependence on US export controls

Mar 11th 2026

ArianeGroup and Thales unveiled the FLP-T 150, a truck-mounted guided rocket launcher designed to strike up to 150 km, operate under electronic attack, and avoid US export controls, with flight tests and DGA demonstrations planned in 2026.

  • ArianeGroup and Thales presented the FLP-T 150 guided rocket system with a declared range of 150 km.
  • The launcher concept is shown mounted on a Mercedes-Benz Zetros 8x8 and uses a single container holding eight rocket pods arranged in two rows of four.
  • ArianeGroup says the rocket offers single-digit-meter accuracy and is designed to remain effective when satellite navigation is degraded or jammed.
  • The system is being developed without US ITAR-controlled components to preserve French and European export sovereignty.
  • Flight tests are scheduled in the first half of 2026 and DGA demonstration firings are planned for May 2026.
  • The program aims to replace aging French M270/LRU launchers limited to about 70 km and restore a sovereign long-range strike capability.
  • The FLP-T program is estimated at about €600 million with an initial procurement target of at least 13 launchers by 2030.
