IRGC says Iran will decide end of war after Trump predicts a short conflict
Mar 10th 2026
An IRGC spokesperson rejected President Trump’s assertion that the war with Iran will be short, saying Tehran—not Washington—will decide when the conflict ends, after a week of escalatory statements and strikes in the region.
- IRGC spokesperson Brig Gen Ali Mohammad Naeini called President Trump’s comment that the war would be short “lies” and said Iran will determine when the fighting ends.
- Trump told reporters the conflict could be brief while also threatening harsher strikes if Iran disrupts oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz.
- Naeini denied that strikes have degraded Iran’s missile capabilities and said more and heavier projectiles are being fired, according to the Tasnim news agency.
- Trump warned Washington could hit targets that would make it difficult for Iran to rebuild infrastructure and said the US would respond “twenty times harder” to disruptions of oil shipments.
- The exchange comes amid heightened hostilities between Iran, the US and Israel since late February, with both sides reporting strikes and counterstrikes.
