An Israeli airstrike killed three members of the same family, including a six-month-old infant, in an apartment in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza on Sunday, according to health officials. The strike claimed the lives of Mohammad Abu Mallouh, his wife Alaa Zaqlan, and their child Osama. The attack occurred despite a ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since October, brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incident. The October ceasefire has failed to halt Israeli attacks in Gaza, with Israel and Hamas deadlocked in indirect negotiations over the militant group's disarmament. Under the current arrangement, Israel controls more than half of Gaza while Hamas retains a sliver of territory along the coast. According to figures from Gaza health officials, approximately 880 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes since the truce came into effect. At least four Israeli soldiers have been killed by militants during the same period, according to the Israeli military. Israel has stated that its post-ceasefire strikes are aimed at preventing attacks or stopping people from approaching the armistice line with Hamas. Since the outbreak of the conflict in October 2023, the total death toll from Israeli fire in Gaza has reached 72,783, according to Gaza health officials, with the majority being women and children. An additional 172,779 people have been wounded. These figures are considered incomplete, as many victims remain trapped under rubble and are inaccessible to rescue teams. The ceasefire that came into effect in October 2025 has been repeatedly violated, with attacks continuing amid stalled negotiations between the parties.
