Illinois lieutenant governor Juliana Stratton won the Democratic primary over Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi and is the expected favorite in the November Senate race against Republican Don Tracy.

Krishnamoorthi raised more than $30 million for the campaign but faced criticism over certain donors and outside influence.
A PAC backing Krishnamoorthi, the Indian American Impact Fund, ran ads that bolstered Robin Kelly and were seen as a tactic to blunt Stratton.
Republicans have not won a statewide Illinois race in more than a decade, making the Democratic nominee the heavy favorite in November.
Stratton will face former GOP state party chair Don Tracy in November, and if elected would be the 15th Black US senator in American history.
Stratton has served as Illinois lieutenant governor since 2019 and benefited from pro-Stratton ads run by the Illinois Future PAC funded by Pritzker.
