Lawsuit alleges Cybertruck on Autopilot crashed on Houston overpass

A Houston woman says a Cybertruck on Tesla’s Autopilot drove into a concrete barrier on a Y-shaped overpass in August 2025, causing serious injuries; she sued Tesla in Harris County in late February, alleging negligence, misrepresentation and seeking over $1 million.
- Driver Justine Saint Amour says a Cybertruck on Autopilot failed to follow a right-hand curve on a Y-shaped overpass on 69 Eastex Freeway in August 2025.
- Saint Amour says she disengaged Autopilot but could not prevent the vehicle from striking a concrete barrier and suffered multiple herniated discs, wrist injuries and neuropathy.
- The lawsuit filed in Harris County in late February seeks more than $1 million and accuses Tesla of negligence and misrepresenting Autopilot’s capabilities.
- The complaint faults Tesla’s camera-only approach and argues safer alternatives like lidar and stronger emergency braking were feasible and would have reduced the risk of injury.
- The suit names CEO Elon Musk and comes amid wider regulatory scrutiny over Tesla’s Autopilot branding, which led the company to rename Navigate on Autopilot to Navigate on Autosteer.
- Tesla says Autopilot is an advanced driver assistance system and not full self-driving technology.
