Lloyds group apps briefly exposed other customers’ transactions
Mar 12th 2026
On March 12 a technical fault in Lloyds Banking Group’s mobile and internet apps briefly let some UK customers view other people’s transactions and personal details; the banks say the error was fixed and an investigation is under way.
- The glitch occurred on March 12 and affected mobile and internet banking for about an hour in the morning.
- Bank of Scotland, Lloyds and Halifax apps showed transactions and personal details belonging to other customers, and all three banks are part of Lloyds Banking Group.
- Users reported seeing payments, wages, benefits and National Insurance numbers used as payment references.
- One customer said she viewed six different people’s accounts in a 20 minute period and saw details change after logging out and back in.
- Lloyds said nobody had access to accounts, and Halifax and Bank of Scotland confirmed the issue was identified, fixed and is under investigation.
- It is not yet clear how many customers were affected; the incident follows a major Lloyds outage in February 2025 that hit about 1.2 million people.
