A recent iFixit teardown says Apple’s new $599 MacBook Neo uses more screws and modular parts, scores 6/10 for repairability, and ships with official repair documentation, while RAM and storage stay soldered.

  • iFixit’s teardown gave the MacBook Neo a 6 out of 10 repairability score, the highest Apple laptop rating in about 14 years.
  • The Neo is an entry-level MacBook starting at $599 that runs Apple’s A18 Pro chip and targets students and budget buyers.
  • Apple replaced much adhesive with screws and modular components, making the battery and several parts easier to remove and replace.
  • Apple published official repair documentation for the Neo at launch.
  • RAM and storage remain soldered and non-upgradeable and the case still uses pentalobe screws.
