Alireza Askari has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 26 years after admitting the April killing of his ex-wife Paria Veisi, whose body was discovered buried in the garden of their former home in Penylan, Cardiff.
- Alireza Askari, 42, admitted killing his ex-wife Paria Veisi, 37, and pleaded guilty to murder.
- Justice Stacey sentenced Askari to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 26 years.
- Veisi’s body was found in a makeshift grave in the rear garden of the Penylan property, concealed by slabs, soil and newly planted flowers.
- Prosecutors say Askari stabbed Veisi, bought kitchen knives beforehand and later tried to destroy evidence, including purchasing bleach, compost and caustic soda found in his vehicle.
- Askari’s aunt Maryam Delavary was jailed for five years and six months for perverting the course of justice after travelling to Cardiff to help conceal the killing.
- A friend reported Veisi missing, leading to a police search and Askari’s arrest on 15 April while he was driving from Birmingham to Cardiff.
