Authorities in Jalisco reported killing a top lieutenant of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in a shootout and seizing cash, weapons and an escape vehicle after a wave of cartel-led attacks tied to the reported death of boss Nemesio "El Mencho" Oseguera.
- Mexican authorities said they killed "El Tuli", identified as a right-hand man to CJNG leader El Mencho, in a Jalisco shootout.
- Officials reported seizing about 410,000 Mexican pesos, $965,000 US dollars, an arsenal and an escape vehicle at the scene.
- Authorities allege El Tuli organized the cartel's violent response after El Mencho's reported death and placed roughly 20,000 peso bounties on soldiers' heads.
- The outbreak of violence reportedly included attacks on airports, road blockades, fires and threats against civilians and hotels across multiple states.
- Reports said 25 National Guard members were killed during the violence, and travel into several regions was temporarily disrupted.
- Mexican authorities say the situation has since stabilized and some commercial flights, including those to Puerto Vallarta, have resumed.
