NASA confirms DART successfully changed asteroid Dimorphos' orbit

The kinetic impact ejected debris and shortened Dimorphos' 12-hour orbit around 805-meter Didymos by about 33 minutes, and altered the binary system's orbit around the Sun by about 0.15 seconds.
- DART launched in November 2021 and impacted 170-meter Dimorphos in September 2022 after nearly nine months of flight.
