Brendon rose to fame as Xander Harris on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, appearing across all seven seasons from 1997 to 2003.
After Buffy he had recurring TV roles including Criminal Minds, Private Practice and Faking It, and appeared in Kitchen Confidential and several films.
He had known health issues, including tachycardia in 2022 and spinal surgeries in 2021, and his family said he was on medications and treatment.
Starting in 2010 he faced multiple arrests on charges including domestic violence and theft, and he was open about struggles with substance abuse, alcoholism and depression.
In later years he pursued painting and art, and his family asked for privacy as they grieve and celebrate his life.
