OpenAI raises $110 billion in one of the largest private funding rounds

Amazon, Nvidia and SoftBank have committed $110 billion to OpenAI at a $730 billion pre-money valuation, in a deal that pairs huge capital commitments with expanded infrastructure partnerships and leaves the round open for more investors.

  • Amazon will host a stateful runtime for OpenAI models on Bedrock, expand prior AWS compute commitments by $100 billion, and OpenAI committed to use at least 2GW of AWS Trainium.
  • Nvidia committed 3GW of dedicated inference capacity and 2GW of training on Vera Rubin systems as part of its participation.
  • OpenAI said some of the Amazon funding will arrive in the coming months when certain conditions are met, and the companies did not disclose how much of the commitments are cash versus services.
