Oracle disclosed $2.2 billion in non-marketable investments largely tied to TikTok USDS, where it owns 15% and acts as the U.S. data custodian and security monitor.
- Oracle recorded $2.2 billion of non-marketable debt investments and equity instruments for the period ended Feb. 28.
- The filing said the substantial majority of those investments were in TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC.
- Oracle holds a 15% stake in the U.S. TikTok joint venture and a board seat, while Silver Lake and MGX each hold 15% and ByteDance owns just under 20%.
- A 2024 U.S. national security law required ByteDance to sell TikTok's U.S. operations or face a ban, and a White House-approved divestment followed.
- Oracle now houses U.S. TikTok user data and is designated as the platform's independent security monitor per a White House memo.
- The U.S. transition has experienced service interruptions tied to an Oracle data center outage, which TikTok said was later resolved.
