Panasonic hands TV manufacturing to China’s Skyworth
Feb 24th 2026
Panasonic will stop making its own TV sets and let Shenzhen-based Skyworth manufacture, market and sell Panasonic-branded TVs while Panasonic keeps quality oversight and joint OLED development.
- Panasonic will stop making its own TVs and transfer manufacturing, marketing and sales of Panasonic-branded sets to Skyworth.
- Skyworth is a Shenzhen TV maker that says it is a top three global provider of the Android TV platform and was listed by Omdia among the top-five TV brands by revenue in Q1 2025.
- Under the deal Skyworth will lead sales, marketing and logistics while Panasonic provides expertise, quality assurance and co-develops top-end OLED models.
- Skyworth-made Panasonic TVs will be sold in the US and Europe, with the companies targeting double-digit market share in Europe.
- Panasonic will support Panasonic TVs sold up to March 2026 and models available from April, ending a period of wavering commitment that began after it quit plasma production in 2014 despite dominating the plasma market in 2010.
