Pregnancy reduces fear memory in rats, study links effect to allopregnanolone

Northeastern University researchers found that pregnancy produced lasting reductions in fear memory in rats and identified the steroid allopregnanolone as a likely chemical contributor, with effects that varied by behavioral type and persisted after birth.
