Ilya Remeslo, a once-loyal pro-Kremlin lawyer and blogger, published a scathing Telegram manifesto calling for Vladimir Putin to resign and face trial, a move that has stunned allies and sparked speculation about his motives.

Remeslo published a Telegram post titled "Five reasons why I stopped supporting Vladimir Putin" accusing the president of sending Russians to a "dead-end war", wrecking the economy, tightening media control and enabling corruption.
He declared Putin illegitimate, demanded his resignation and said Putin should be tried as a war criminal and thief.
Remeslo is a 42-year-old St Petersburg lawyer and former pro-Kremlin legal activist who helped pursue cases against critics including Alexei Navalny.
His sudden turn shocked pro-war commentators and Kremlin allies, who suggested he may have snapped, switched camps or been coerced.
Remeslo told the exiled outlet Agentstvo he plans to stay in Russia unless his family is threatened and is prepared to face any criminal charges.
