PS5 Pro gets major PSSR AI upscaler update rolling out March 17

Mar 16th 2026

Sony is rolling out an upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution AI upscaler for PS5 Pro starting March 17, promising reduced visual artifacts and sharper in-game graphics across a growing list of titles.

  • Update is included in the latest PS5 system software, rolling out in phases starting March 17 at 1AM ET.
  • PSSR uses AI to analyze and upscale lower-resolution frames to deliver higher-quality images without dropping frame rate.
  • Digital Foundry testing found fewer artifacts such as shimmering and flicker and reported crisper, more consistent visuals.
  • Confirmed and incoming support includes Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil Requiem, Crimson Desert at launch, and several other titles.
  • The upgrade is part of Sony and AMDs Project Amethyst, will influence future FSR updates, and can be toggled on or off per game with results that may vary.
