Overnight Russian missile and drone strikes hit Kharkiv and other regions, killing at least 10 in a residential building and damaging energy and transport infrastructure across Ukraine.

  • A ballistic missile hit a five-story residential building in Kharkiv, killing at least 10 people including two children and injuring 16 others.
  • Rescuers searched rubble for survivors and several people were believed still trapped after the strike.
  • President Zelenskyy said Russia used 29 missiles, about half ballistic, and 480 drones, most of them Iranian-designed Shaheds, in the overnight attacks.
  • Preliminary reports say Ukrainian air defenses shot down 19 missiles and 453 drones during the assault.
  • Strikes also damaged energy and rail infrastructure and caused harm in regions including Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Sumy.
  • Air raid alerts went off across Ukraine and Poland scrambled aircraft as a precaution, while rail routes were changed because of damage to infrastructure.
