Steam Survey Feb 2026: 32 GB builds surge, 1440p and RTX 5070 climb

February data shows a move toward higher RAM and higher-resolution displays, rising uptake of recent NVIDIA GPUs, a drop in Windows 11 share, and a large increase in Simplified Chinese users.
- 32 GB system RAM now represents 56.93% of respondents, up 18.91 percentage points from last month.
- 2560 x 1440 resolution jumped to 38.64%, up 17.32 points while 1920 x 1080 fell to 45.04%, down 7.55 points.
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 rose to 9.12% share, a gain of 6.40 points, with other recent RTX 40 and 50 series cards also increasing.
- Windows 11 fell to 56.28% (down 10.43 points) as Windows 10 rose to 40.25% (up 12.46 points), and Windows overall accounts for 96.61% of installs.
- Simplified Chinese selection surged to 54.60%, up 30.74 points, while English fell to 22.27%, down 14.74 points.
- Storage capacity trends show 70.09% of systems have above 1 TB total space (up 17.76 points) and 19.48% report more than 4 TB free space (up 15.64 points).
- VR headset ownership among Steam users slipped to 1.05% (down 0.72 points) even though Meta Quest 3 remains the most common headset at 28.55% of headsets reported.
- CPU feature flags like AVX512F and related AVX512 metrics increased by roughly 7.7 points, indicating newer CPU microarchitectures appearing in the installed base.
