Thomas Partey to plead not guilty to two new rape charges

Mar 13th 2026

Villarreal and Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey faces two additional rape charges and will plead not guilty while he remains awaiting trial on earlier sexual offence allegations.

  • His lawyer Emma Fenn told Westminster Magistrates Court he intends to plead not guilty to the two new charges.
  • The new allegations say a woman was raped twice on the same day in December 2020.
  • He is already awaiting trial on five counts of rape involving two women and one count of sexual assault involving a third woman.
  • Partey was not required to attend Friday’s preliminary hearing and the next court date for the new charges is April 10, with a separate trial on earlier charges set for November at Southwark Crown Court.
  • He was first charged last July after leaving Arsenal, signed for Villarreal in August, and has made more than 50 appearances for Ghana, who qualified for the World Cup.
