The Crewkerne Gazette account was revealed to be run by Joshua Bonehill-Paine, who has prior convictions including malicious communications, racially aggravated harassment of MP Luciana Berger, and a 2015 jail term for antisemitic material.
Bonehill-Paine says he is a fully paid-up member of the Conservative party and says he has been rehabilitated.
A Conservative spokesperson called the account a satirical X account that has been broadcast on mainstream outlets, while Labour MPs criticised Harris for sharing content linked to a far-right figure.
The party has been approached for comment about Bonehill-Paine's claim of membership and whether his past convictions were disclosed.
