In a Time interview President Trump said Americans may need to worry about Iranian retaliation as U.S. strikes continue, the FBI monitors possible sleeper cells and investigators probe an Austin shooting for links to Iran.

  • President Trump told Time magazine that Americans should "I guess" be worried about retaliatory Iranian attacks on U.S. soil.
  • The U.S. has carried out strikes named Operation Epic Fury and officials say at least six U.S. service members have been killed since the campaign began.
  • The FBI says it is monitoring the threat of Iranian sleeper cells inside the United States.
  • Authorities are investigating the Austin, Texas, mass shooting as an act of terrorism after finding items linking the suspect to Iran.
  • Trump said his main goals are to stop Iran from using a nuclear weapon or firing ballistic missiles at the U.S. and to help ensure a "rational and sane" successor to Iran's leadership.
  • Trump stated Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the initial airstrikes and said he wants influence over choosing Iran's next leader, while Mojtaba Khamenei is seen as the favored internal successor and exiled Reza Pahlavi does not have Trump’s backing.
