Mehdi Ahmadzadeh Razavi and Arezou Soltani were arrested and charged after investigators found the remains of Masood Masjoody; police say the victim and the accused were known to each other and the motive remains under investigation.

  • Two people, 48-year-old Mehdi Ahmadzadeh Razavi and 45-year-old Arezou Soltani, were charged with first-degree murder.
  • Masood Masjoody, 45, a former SFU instructor and outspoken critic of the Iranian regime, was reported missing on Feb 2 and his remains were located in Mission on March 6.
  • The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team led the probe with Burnaby RCMP, Mission RCMP, IFIS, Integrated Police Dog Services, the Integrated Emergency Response Team and Mission Search and Rescue.
  • Authorities say the victim and the accused were known to each other and that motive and background investigations are ongoing.
