A projectile hit a residential compound in Al-Kharj on Sunday, killing two foreign workers and injuring 12, Saudi Civil Defense says; the agency added the projectile is believed to have been launched from Iran amid a broader regional escalation.
- Two people were killed and 12 injured when a projectile struck a company residential site in Al-Kharj, about 80 kilometres southeast of Riyadh.
- The dead were an Indian national and a Bangladeshi national, and the injured were Bangladeshi nationals, Saudi Civil Defense said.
- Civil Defense said the projectile is believed to have been launched from Iran and condemned any targeting of civilian areas as a violation of international humanitarian law.
- Emergency teams transported the wounded to nearby hospitals, secured the site and reported material damage at the compound.
- Authorities say the strike occurred amid a wider spike in regional attacks and counterstrikes since late February, and follows reports of drones intercepted en route to Riyadh, prompting heightened security across the Gulf.
