A man has been detained after stabbing two people in Golders Green, a heavily Jewish neighborhood in North London, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. According to Shomrim, a charity that supports Jewish communities and runs a volunteer neighborhood watch program, the suspect was seen running along a main road "armed with a knife and attempting to stab Jewish members of the public." Members of Shomrim responded immediately and detained the suspect before police arrived and deployed a taser. Two victims were being treated by Hatzola, a Jewish volunteer emergency response organization, though the organization could not provide information on the victims' conditions. The Metropolitan Police did not immediately issue a statement on the incident. The Community Security Trust, another local group, confirmed via social media that there was a "knife attack today in Golders Green" and that "the suspect has been arrested," while offering thanks to Shomrim, Hatzola, and London police for their swift response. The attack follows a string of incidents over the past month targeting Jewish communities in north London, including an arson attack that destroyed several of Hatzola's ambulances in Golders Green. Over the last month, counter-terrorism officers have arrested more than two dozen people as part of investigations into attacks on Jewish-linked premises, highlighting ongoing concerns about antisemitism in the area. This latest incident adds to a growing pattern of hostility toward the Jewish community in north London.
