Ukraine identifies six more Russian para-athletes serving in Russian forces

Kyiv agencies say six more Russian para-athletes also serve in Russia's military and are promoted as part of Kremlin propaganda, prompting Ukraine to boycott the 2026 Paralympics opening ceremony.
- Ukrainian agencies including the Center for Countering Disinformation, military intelligence and the sports ministry identified six Russian athletes with disabilities who also serve in the Russian armed forces.
- Officials said some of the athletes were wounded during combat operations in Ukraine and are being used in Russian propaganda projects.
- Named figures include Artem Repkin, a lieutenant colonel and deputy commander of the 96th reconnaissance brigade, and Dmytro Borisov, a captain and commander in the 69th Guards motorized unit.
- The athletes compete in events such as Paralympic athletics, powerlifting, hockey and CISM championships in 2024 and 2025.
- The National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine announced it will boycott the 2026 Paralympics opening ceremony in protest of Russia and Belarus being allowed to compete under their own flags.
