Feb 23rd 2026

Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces said Feb. 22 drone strikes hit an oil depot used to fuel Russian forces in occupied Luhansk and destroyed two Tor air defense systems in occupied Donetsk, with video released of the operations.

  • The Unmanned Systems Forces confirmed the strikes on Telegram and said drone crews hit the oil base in Russian-occupied Luhansk overnight on Feb. 22.
  • Elite drone unit Madyar Birds and the Deep Strike Center jointly destroyed two Tor anti-aircraft missile systems in occupied Donetsk Oblast at Kyslyche and Topolyne.
  • Ukraine estimated the destroyed equipment is worth more than $50 million and published video footage of the attacks on social media.
  • Kyiv views Russian energy and fuel facilities as valid military targets because they supply and fund Russia’s war effort.
  • The Unmanned Systems Forces were created as a separate branch of Ukraine’s military in June 2024 and have carried out hundreds of deep operations since their inception.
  • Recent related strikes include a Jan. 19 attack on a drone warehouse in occupied Luhansk and Feb. 18-19 strikes on an oil depot in Pskov Oblast and missile strikes that caused power outages in Belgorod.
