Mar 4th 2026
President Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered Ukrainian authorities to prepare support options, including on-site experts and military assistance, for Gulf states hit by Iranian drone and missile attacks while insisting help must not weaken Ukraine's own defenses.
- Zelensky ordered Ukraine's government to develop options to support Gulf countries hit by Iranian drone and missile attacks.
- He said Ukrainian military has the necessary capabilities and will send experts and teams to work on site.
- Zelensky has spoken with leaders of the UAE, Qatar, Jordan and Bahrain and is preparing talks with Kuwait.
- He tasked Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, intelligence agencies, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and military command to prepare proposals that do not compromise Ukraine's defense.
- The attacks used Shahed-type drones, the same model Russia has used in Ukraine since 2022.
- Iran has reportedly launched more than 800 missiles and over 1,400 strike drones in recent days, with at least nine countries reporting strikes.
- The strikes have raised concerns about regional stability and global energy markets as they threaten shipping routes and contribute to oil and gas price volatility.
