Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia is preparing a major new attack on Ukraine, with intelligence indicating "big attacks" could occur Friday or Saturday night. In interviews with CBS News, Zelenskyy urged the United States to expand deliveries of Patriot missile systems to help defend against the expected assault. "Our people have to be very, very careful, cautious, and children, and they have to use bomb shelters...nobody knows 100%, but there is a high percent," he said. Russia has stated it intends to launch "systematic strikes" on targets in Kyiv and has even warned foreigners and diplomats to leave the city. Moscow claims the offensive is a response to a Ukrainian drone strike last week on a dormitory in the Russian-held Luhansk region, which killed 21 people. Ukraine has denied carrying out that attack. Ukrainian officials say their air force and air defence systems are prepared and will operate around the clock, while Zelenskyy has called on partners to implement air defence agreements without delay and has urged further sanctions on Russia. Last Sunday, Russian strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian areas killed two people and injured dozens. The escalation follows heightened tensions between the two nations, with Ukraine's air defence capabilities remaining a critical focus as it braces for what appears to be one of the largest attacks in recent months.
